About Us
The primary purpose of our Skin Cancer Clinics is to facilitate early detection and treatment of skin cancer. We have Skin Cancer Clinics conveniently located within Altona Superclinic, Casey Superclinic, Eltham Ridge Medical Centre, Mill Park Superclinic, Point Cook Superclinic, St Kilda Superclinic, Springfield Superclinic and Wyndham Village Medical Centre.
Our Medical Practitioners believe that education and increasing public awareness on the importance of regular skin cancer checks is the only way to prevent and treat skin cancers before they become life threatening.
Technology
Our highly skilled doctors will assess your moles and lesions using the latest equipment and technology. A thorough skin assessment is conducted by your doctor using a dermatoscope and state of the art imaging technology. A dermatoscope is a pain free, non invasive device which enables the doctor to view and photograph your lesion at a microscopic level.
Your doctor will capture high resolution images of suspicious and non suspicious moles and lesions using FotoFinder® or SolarScan® imaging equipment. Clinical notes, images and dimensions of individual lesions can be captured and stored for future reference and comparison upon your next skin examination.
The most successful way to cure and survive a melanoma is to regularly perform a thorough skin check to detect new moles and identify changes in existing lesions.
Our Doctors
Our doctors are highly qualified Medical Practitioners with a special interest in Skin Cancer. All of our doctors working in the clinic have undertaken training through the University of Queensland, which forms part of a Masters Degree in Skin Cancer Diagnosis and treatment.
Appointments
Our friendly reception staff will schedule an appointment for you with one of our doctors in the Skin Cancer Clinic. Your initial consultation will consist of the Medical Practitioner taking a thorough medical history, explaining the purpose of a skin examination, answering questions you may have and conducting a thorough full body skin examination using a dermatoscope.
During your skin assessment your doctor will take high resolution images of suspicious and non-suspicious moles and lesions for monitoring and future reference.
After a thorough skin assessment has been completed your doctor will show you high resolution images of moles and lesions that he or she is concerned about and provide you with clinical advice on future treatment and monitoring. You will also be provided with literature and education material.
Your doctor may ask you to return to the clinic to have a minor procedure performed. Our doctors are specially trained to biopsy and remove any suspect moles or skin lesions. These minor procedures are performed at our centers in fully equipped procedure and treatment rooms with the assistance of highly trained nursing staff.
All Initial consultations are bulk billed and involve assessment and imaging of your skin. An out of pocket fee may exist for subsequent consultations which our doctors will discuss with you in full during your initial consultation.
